Description
One night I dreamed that my beloved father - who had fallen asleep forever 10 years ago - was waiting for me at the End of the World column. We rarely really remember dreams, but I saw it as crystal clear as if it had been projected on a huge movie screen. World-end column? Back then, I didn’t even know if there was such a…
However, a Google search engine has shown that it does exist. I sat in silence for long minutes, looking at the image of the column on the monitor with the blue ocean in the distance behind it, and I felt my eyes fill with tears and my heart clench. I didn’t understand and didn’t know what was happening to me… except for one thing: I would go there at any cost and whatever would happen because my father couldn’t wait for me there in vain.
So I headed for the westernmost tip of Europe, to the column in Fisterra, where, by the way, the El Camino pilgrimage route also ends, but 95 out of 100 pilgrims don’t go until then. Of course, I didn't know the reason for that even then.
Somehow, along with the first step, I started out with words and sentences, chapters, and then a book, because the blog I wrote along the way, and then my lectures, showed that I can give them my story to inspire or help others.
I am not advising anything, I am just showing an option and its consequences. What can swing you to a standstill, how much everything can change your life, what you can learn from it, what true friendship means, what the price is and the gift of perseverance and faith.
Try! See if it works. Because if you don’t get up in the morning, you don’t pick up your backpack and don’t get up on the road, don’t even be surprised or complain that you’ll never reach your goal!
